What: Making a splash into 2020 with a little indoor, aquatic fun!
When: Sunday, January 26th 1:00-3:00 PM
Where: Buffaloe Road Aquatic Center, 5908 Buffaloe Road, Raleigh, NC 27616
Cost: Eye Shine will cover the admission cost for each visually impaired child. Parents and additional guests see below:
Wake County Residents: Ages 1-12 ($4), 13 and older ($8)
Non-residents: Ages 1-12 ($7), 13 and older ($15)
RSVP: Let us know who all is coming in your group and include name of all VI kids in your party by shooting us a quick email by Friday, January 23rd to email@example.com
2020 Eastern NC Braille Challenge
Who: Braille students of all levels
What: Braille contests with other braille reading students from around the state!
Students are grouped by grade level and can compete either at grade level or below grade level, if a new braille reader.
Rookie: just for fun (for new braille readers not ready to compete)
Apprentice: Grades 1-2
Freshman: Grades 3-4
Sophomore: Grades 5-6
Jr. Varsity: Grades 7-9
Varsity: Grades 10-12
Contests include: Spelling, Proofreading, Reading Comprehension, Speed and Accuracy, and Charts and Graphs.
Preparing for the Braille Challenge is a great way to motivate your student. Preparation materials are available on the iBraille Challenge App from the iTunes store, former test materials can be downloaded online or can be sent by mail (contact us by email).
TVIs, Parents and Paraprofessionals are encouraged to attend with their students! There will be a Parent Session while students are competing, lunch and fun for all!
